Sister sister

Okay, I just wanted to share with you all a part of my life's decisions (well, sorta my decision, but not really!) I will be entering a convent in the near future. I'm not exactly sure when, and I'm not exactly sure event which order I'm joining! This has been something that I've been considering for the most part for about the past 10 years off and on. Needless to say, I'm really rather excited about it! I have been looking at various orders in TN, MI, IN, and now NY but there are so many.

Like I said, I just wanted to share

Dear sisters-
I know this thread is from this summer and my life has changed quite a bit (in a way) but I need some thoughts.

So, I thought that I had things figured out with regards to what God wants me to do with my life. I had recently made the decision to pursue a MA in Theology and eventually teach Religion in the Catholic schools - or even charter schools. I had been thinking about this for a while and finally decided to apply, etc. I had talked to the principal at my alma mater for her thoughts on whether I should pursue a MSTeaching in History or the Theology degree and she said that there is a greater need for theology/religion teachers than social studies. So I made my decision on which program (and had even chatted with a gentleman about teaching at a charter school that is being researched to get started in this area). That same day I'm talking to my mom and she tells me that a sister left a message for me on her answering machine. She hadn't written down the message but didn't delete it off her machine. I got the full message a few days later and it was from a sister with an order I was looking at last summer! I'm interpreting this as a sign from God that I was heading down the wrong path. . . . (I had left a message for Sr. Veronica to call me back either today or tomorrow. . . )

What are you thoughts on this. . . . I really like the order and what they do - and may figure out a way to get out to New York to visit them during one of my scheduled vacations this summer. . .

Sarah, if you can arrange to visit the order this summer I think you should do so. That's the only advice I can give you, along with follow your head and your heart. It never hurts to take your time if you think you have questions--but it sure wouldn't hurt to go see them if you can over the summer.

No matter what you choose, you will be wonderful. My best advice is to pray about the whole situation.
For me, a key would be to follow my heart and my head. I hope that we can get together while you are here. I would love to talk to you about the programs that we have.

So after a few days recently of praying (in addition to the years previously!), I know where my heart and head lies - with regards to my future vocation. . .

I spoke with Sr. Veronica on Monday for about two hours! Sr. Veronica had told me that she had pulled two files randomly to call as Mother Agnes had told them to go through all the contact files (350-ish), call everyone and see where we all are in our discernment, etc. They were going to start with the A's last Wednesday (Sr. Veronica had pulled the files and left the message on Tuesday). I hope to be going out to CT for a vocation retreat over the 4th of July if I can find the money for the flight. (Silver, I still am hoping to make it down to Nashville in August - though it might only be for the weekend. . .I'll let you know.). I am going to continue to pray and be open to God's plan - and will keep you updated.
