I don't think you have anything to worry about. There will be plenty of female APO members present at Cookout this year, they've been attending for several years now, and they seem to have a a good time.
You're a member just like every other APO member there; you earned your letters and you do have a right to wear them. So, if you want to attend Cookout go ahead and do so. You'll have company.
