Sleeping arrangements...
Hey, just curious about the sleeping arrangements at your house/school. At my school all sororities and most fraternities have porches. It gets COLD here in Moscow so I will need an electric blanket I think (the windows are open on the porches for health reasons).
Tell about your arrangements and how you survive it?

At our school we are unhoused, but like 10-15 guys find a house, and everyone gets thier own bedroom or splits one. I couldn't imagine sleeping in dormers or on porches.

What do you mean? Like is everyone on one big sleeping bag on the living room floor or what? Most houses it is all or most of the members have 2-3 to a room.

We had a suite, which was an entire floor of one of the residence halls basically configured into a big apartment that slept, if I recall, 18 girls. We had a formal living room, an informal living room, 2 kitchens, a chapter room, 5 single rooms, 1 president's room and 6 doubles. Choice of a room was determined by a member's seniority within the sorority. Ex. we were given one point for each year we were a member, one point for already living in the suite, x number of points for various offices held. It was a nice place to live and it didn't cost any more than living in a regular dorm.

AOPi Hottie - no they're not in sleeping bags although that's what I thought too when I heard of a "sleeping porch"! Here is a thread on them. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/...ML/001268.html
Tracy - I had heard at Pitt that they were trying to get rid of all the Greek houses - do you know what's up with that? I thought Theta and KKG had off campus houses.

Most of our girls sleep in the cold dorm. A few sleep in the warm dorm (the room is a lot smaller). A few select who don't want to sleep in the dorms can have their beds in their room, but the bed takes up a lot of the room space.

Yes, when I was at Pitt only Kappa and Theta had off campus houses. The other 12 NPC organizations each had a floor (we called them suites) in Amos Hall. Do you know if they're trying to kick the sororities out of their suites?

I think they are letting the suites alone but there have been several fraternities that have gotten their houses taken away. Can't remember names because it's ones we didn't have at Clarion & I'm just waking up. They might have info about it in the Post-Gazette archives (I can never find anything in the Pitt News). From what I can gather they want to contain the Greeks so they don't do any damage to that oh-so-exclusive wonderful Oakland neighborhood they are in (stop laughing).
It is too bad Friendship isn't closer cause there are SO many houses there, that if they were fixed up, would be awesome Greek houses.

Well our old Lady of a House is 130 + years and we had 2 to a room! We are in the process of building a new house and still feel 2 to a room is enuff!
I do not mind if my thingy is hung out to my roomie but not a whole Dorm Room!
The Problem is the IRS in their great wisdom decidede not to give Greeks any breaks for their Houses!
A lot of schools are in housing troubles but still the Greeks Suck! DAH!!!!! You cannot live in the house until Youare a Soph so live off campus to the Buzzards who own them! At one time, one of the Proffesors was one of the biggest slum lords in town and it has not changed much! Well I guess everyone must make a buck!

LOL 33girl, yeah, I kinda wondered bout that!
We don't have a house, we actually have a kinda cool floor-we have one floor that has some rooms plus a "study" room and our chapter room, then "upstairs" (you go upstairs, but can look down at the floor below, that has more rooms. And it is 2 girls to a room, so only a few girls get to live on the AOPI floor, the others get rooms as close as they can.

At Cal Poly, the Theta Chapter house as a building is small. It has three rooms, which the execs share, two to each room.
We have an apartment complex attached by a parking lot that Thetas live in, they have to follow all the house rules, it's essentially an extention of the main house. We have 6 apartments, two bedrooms each-girls share. We have a bungalow on property that has two rooms, and the girls share there, also.
