How about you actually read about the issues instead of parroting what you hear on Foxnews or Limbaugh? No one is arguing about showing ID. That is not the problem.

This person sounds stupid, but this reminded me of a conversation I had yesterday.

The woman I was speaking to was of Mexican descent, and didn't understand "what the big deal was." I tried to explain what was wrong with the bill, and her response was similar to the quoted response ("Just show your ID!").

The kicker, though, was this gem: "Well, you probably get pulled over for DWB and it's the same thing! Why is it an issue now??"

It made me upset that a college-educated individual tried to use that as a defense.

The only time I've ever seen a white person asked for ID was outside a bar/in line at the liquor store/at the gas station buying cigarettes.

Also, although "white" people might be a "minority" they will still be the majority in terms on power and economic status.

Including "white" Hispanics and people of the "white diaspora" from across the world.

That sucks to have to say "I wanna be carded tooooooo! I might be illegal! Card me!! Give me my illegal props instead of white privilege!!"

Define "trouble"

Having an ID alone is not enough for you to be arrested. Not having an ID while in the process of committing a crime however can land you an extra charge of failure to properly identify oneself. At the most, having an ID can get you detained.

No. Really, no. I forget my DL all the time if I take it out of my wallet for a night because I'm going out and don't want to carry my purse. The next day I'll be out and about and my ID is still in the pocket of the pants I wore the night before.

This happened to me once on a day I was in a car accident. A CAR ACCIDENT WITH NO DRIVERS LICENSE ON HAND. Know what happened? Zippo. Cop pulled up my license plate, I told him who I was, and we were a-ok.

Somehow I doubt that would've been so easy if I didn't look the way I do.

But, but, but, wait it gets worse (~ Onyx "Slam")...whites may prepare a RACE CARD because they are becoming outnumbered. That is not only a silly assertion but it is inaccurate based on demographic stats (don't follow the 2012 projections rabbit down the hole) and power dynamics that exist regardless of whether whites are the population majority or the minority (a la South Afrika).

Who really cares about what happens after 2012 anyways? I mean if you follow the popular opinion, the Mayans already said there will be nothing after December 21st, 2012.

Damn us Mexicans....we ruin everything. First we ruin the US economy, now we are ruining the world!!!!

I guess I should say that I deal with middle schoolers, that is their ONLY opinion. "Why should I care about what grades I get, it's not like i'm gonna graduate from high school, the world is going to end... DUH." They are TOTALLY serious!

Whether it is a popular opinion among others, IDK. But it must be somewhat, to get the notoriety that it has.

It only has notoriety among a small segment of the population. The average American who has heard of it only knows of it through The History Channel or something like that and they don't take it seriously. Afterall, people panicked over Y2K. See where that landed us?

Oh good Lord.

Quote:
(CNN) -- A proposed Arizona law would deny birth certificates to children born in the United States to illegal immigrant parents.

The bill comes on the heels of Arizona passing the nation's toughest immigration law.

John Kavanagh, a Republican state representative from Arizona who supports the proposed law aimed at so-called "anchor babies," said that the concept does not conflict with the U.S. Constitution.

"If you go back to the original intent of the drafters ... it was never intended to bestow citizenship upon (illegal) aliens," said Kavanagh, who also supported Senate Bill 1070 -- the law that gave Arizona authorities expanded immigration enforcement powers.

Under federal law, children born in the United States are automatically granted citizenship, regardless of their parents' residency status.

Kyrsten Sinema, a Democratic state representative, strongly opposes the bill.

"Unlike (Senate Bill) 1070, it is clear this bill runs immediately afoul of the U.S. Constitution," she said.

"While I understand that folks in Arizona and across the country support S.B. 1070, they do so because we have seen no action from the federal government," said Sinema. "Unfortunately, the so-called 'anchor baby' bill does nothing to solve the real problems we are facing in Arizona."

Arizona Republicans are expected to introduce the legislation this fall.
