My rush was...overstimulating.

It was 1979, Frills rush in the South. Girls were chanting at every turn. Costumes, glitter, elaborate backdrops, and identical outfits were the norm at every house. The noise and chaos never ended.

I felt constantly off balance the whole time because I was stressed about making a good impression on the girls.(Forget trying to make a friend. We were all trying to get an invite back to the next round. period)

I would go back to the dorm and have a mini nervous breakdown - hysterical, manic laughter -with the other girls as we rehashed the day.

ah...good times.

My recruitment at an infamously competitive school was so easy, it was almost embarrassing.

My rush was awesome!!

I pretty much knew where I wanted to go by day 2.
But OMG. The night before bid day I was reading the comments on my rush story, and one of the girls from my chapter was all, "I can't wait to hear about bid day " and I was FAREAKING OUT because I had no effing idea how to interpret that wink. lol

My wishes came true

My rush was fun, yet confusing. I was never really nervous. Actually,it was pretty effortless despite being cut my 2 of my faves by the third day, by then AOII had grown on me so I wasnt crushed about it. I remember being confused about how ranking worked though lol.

My rush was so... LONG!! If you read my retro thread, you know it started in mid October (so you were really on display starting in September!), and didn't end until the last week of November. It was composed of "chat dates", which was when sorority women would set up a time and place to talk with you, usually on a one to one basis. Besides feeling like I was being watched 24/7, all those "let's meet for dessert" or "we're having a dinner" was murder on my rush wardrobe!

My "recruitment" was nerve wracking.

I don't even go to a competitive school (I wouldn't survive there lol) but I was in band and missed two houses the first night (one being ADPi) and had to miss Pref because of band. I also skipped my band class on skit night to go through recruitment (shh don't tell panhel lol). SO yeah it made me nervous and a little angry I didn't get to go through it all. Although me missing video night did make for a really funny night during CR, we popped in our recruitment video (the one I never saw) and I got really excited and was like I always wanted to see this. I started crying... this was the video for night one NOT pref. Looks like I'm right where I'm suppose to be .

My rush was ridiculously easy.

The process for me getting into the brand new local sorority that I helped establish (which became Kappa) consisted of me filling out a short form and talking with the president for a few minutes. That was pretty much it!

Expansion is just a completely different story. It was nerve-wracking because of all of the international officers and strangers we met. I wouldn't say it was very difficult, though.

My rush was crazy.

I had rushed as a freshman, then had a freshman freakout and dropped out of rush. My sophmore year I re-rushed, only this time I didn't tell anyone I was going to- not even my older sister who was a very recent alum of one of the chapters. So during rush, she kept calling me to see if I was okay with not rushing. Only I was rushing. But I couldn't tell her that. Then on I bid day (or maybe the day after?) I surprised my family and most of my friends at other schools when I told them. (I even went so far as to not list my sister on the form where if asks if you were a legacy).

My rush was so much fun that I did it 3 times.

I went through formal recruitment at two different schools, and I am not sure they could have been more different if one had occured on the moon.

My first recruitment was at a small school, in the summer, and involved hog roasts, canoeing, and other random activities. I fell in love with Theta Phi Alpha after the first day, and never looked back.

After a transfer (before initiation), I went through at a Big 10 school in January. This recruitment was a "traditional" formal recruitment. It was not at all what I was expecting. I was dropped from recruitment the day before prefs.

Fast forward a week or two, and I went through COB. This is when I finally found my home, Zeta.

Mine too was "easy". I went through spring recruitment. It was incredibly laid back. We could visit any house we wanted (we were "supposed" to be able to "leave" when we wanted to visit another house). I went to ADPi with a girl who had gone through fall but had to drop because she got pneumonia. I loved it! I loved every minute! I didn't want to leave. What was funny is that I went in, so sure that I would go to chi-o because some friends from high school were chi-o's. I was invited back to ADPi the next night and I received my bid. I immediately accepted and it truly was the best decision I have made. It has been an AMAZING 12 years!

My rush was the best thing I have ever done for myself. I met some amazing people who became my friends, and even more amazing people who became my sisters =]

I went through COB, so my process was:

Laid back... I loved that I took part in activities that were chill and I actually got to meet so many girls!

But slightly stressful... I was only going for one house, and I had to wait until after spring break to hear about my outcome. I spent spring break keeping my phone near me at all times!

Perfect... I love my house more than I can put into words! ∆ LOVE!
