Don't think I am in a rival gang yet. I am just defending someone who I believe was picked on and some of what she said was twisted and taken not as it was meant and/or out of context. I wish young women would be encouraged to play with make up, a Neutrogena spray tan, correctly fitting clothing, and some styling products to help them understand there's absolutely no need for radical and invasive cosmetic procedures, tanning beds, unhealthy eating habits, and damaging chemical straightening or perming. There's nothing wrong with using none of those things either (except the healthy eating habits, obviously), but there's nothing wrong with USING safe and fun alternatives, either, and what I can't understand at all is your judgment of people who wear make up, nail polish, style their hair, or use a Neutrogena spray mist. Wearing make up doesn't indicate that a woman doesn't like herself, and throwing it into the same category as tanning doesn't help anyone feel better about themselves. So no, I do not see a connection between spray tan and horrible self esteem issues.

I've mostly been observing this thread but I just have to say that you're coming across as hyper-defensive. It's just not that serious.

Yeah...I'm white as my little white iPhone. My poor skin is so afraid of the sun. When I go to the beach, I put up an umbrella and every inch of my body stays within the shadow cast by the umbrella while by olive skinned husband lays out like a lizard on a rock 20 ft away.
