Forest for the trees, xp2k. The issue is not a matter of skilled vs. unskilled labor; the jobs I listed I was being strictly arbitrary to illustrate skills that many people know how to do. The issue is a matter of understanding that everyone has a marketable skill. Everyone. It is simply a matter of matching your marketable skills to the market who wants/needs your skills.
Simply put, take inventory of all the skills that you can sell. Market it. Use it. Make the money instead of waiting on it.

I dont disagree with your advice, people need to polish their skills in this market.
I do disagree with the idea that its a snap to get hired if you really want to be.

I never said that it was going to be a snap to get hired, especially if you neither know your market nor have a marketing strategy.
