If you're only interviewing once per month or every other month, you're not trying hard enough or you need to move to where the jobs are or you need to pick a new profession. Truth. I don't care where you are -- there are more jobs out there than an interview in December and one in February.

Kevin...what she said...ok...here is my question..you guys have any opening at daddy's firm?

Have you laid off anyone recently?

If either PM Mama or libra lived in your city would you be willing to hire the RIGHT NOW? Could you afford to hire them right now?

Do you even know?

Seriously, walk away from this thread.

What does this have to do with anything? If I'm not hiring, then suddenly no one is responsible for anything in their own lives? Is that really where you're going? If not, where are you going?

No...you make it sound so cut and dry to get and keep a job so it stands to reason to start with the source of the one who thinks it so.

Are...you all...hiring...right now?

Yes or no?

We are not hiring right now. No more space. Been in the same building since 1990 or so, no desire to move. Busy as we want to be. That said, there's work in my town. My younger brother is a recruiter for a temp service, so I know for a fact there are jobs.

We may have a legal assistant job coming open this Summer depending on what an assistant decides to do after her D.C. internship.

Further, just about everyone in my graduating class has either gotten a job or hung out a shingle. And they're mostly doing fine.

So whose responsibility is that, that you all don't have enough space? what's keeping you from expanding?

There's a lot of this going around, too.

We MAY have something available SOMETIME in the near future DEPENDING on what so-and-so ends up doing.

So I should move to the Sun Belt and be a nurse. Yinz better all come to my funeral after I shoot myself in the head.

You're damned lucky if you get up every day and LIKE what you're doing. Don't tell other people that they need to do something they're awful at or that they detest just because you can't fathom what that's like.

This reminds me of when we had traveling consultants from huge, super successful chapters and they were telling us we should take women that didn't meet our standards, or ANY standards, just because we were smaller and should take what we could get. I'm sure if those women had rushed at her school they wouldn't have even gotten through the door.

Well, if you knew that'd fix your jobless problems and you decided against it, whose decision was that?

I worked retail for 9 years. I'm pretty familiar with working at a job I detest. Did it suck? Yes. Did it add about a year to my undergrad? Yep. Did it pay the bills? Sure did. Would I do it again? No doubt. Beats the heck outta living on credit. Liking what you are doing is a luxury not everyone gets to have. Paying the bills comes before self-actualization. For most folks, if that's what they expect out of the job market, they'll be waiting a very, very long time.

And in the final analysis, what the heck difference does it make what I did, what my situation is or whether I'm a sympathetic soul? None of those weigh in on whether someone could possibly be at least partially responsible for their own plight.

How does one getting laid off of a job (especially if they are going thru a downsizing) make them responsible?

Still waiting for you to answer my ?? BTW

You know what...you all are responsible for being too educated to get a job.
