the article also states the the DG president did not return phone calls or text messages.
I write for my school's newspaper and I am definitely going to send this to my Hurricane friends, they will get a kick out of this

Why would the DG president make a comment on something that is an internal matter???Notice no one from Panhellenic or greek affairs commented either. I don't know UF but I would imagine that the rest of Panhellenic is aware of the consequences the women have suffered and it can hardly be considered news. If you are not in a house, this story would be of very little interest. It does make you wonder why a ME would have put this in. Must have been a REAL slow news day.
Interesting friends you have that would get a kick out of another chapter's pain. Just remember, what goes around, comes around.

You'd be surprised. One of my colleagues on our school paper did the same. Or email as well, which is becoming more and more accepted.

In this case, I would say that the ladies did this all on their own. As far as asking the President for comment, why would they not? It does make sense as she is the local representative to ask her whether or not she was willing to or expected to respond.
As far as the texting part, it's not uncommon in this day and age and will likely even become more prevalent with time (although I hope it doesn't replace that new-fangled telephone contraption where you make a "call" or that crazy thing that carries messages through space known as an "internet". Lord, knows that'd be jacked up)!

did you ever stop to think that she might have meant she was sending it to her friends so that they could see the poor reporting in the piece? except for the incredible stupidity of the girls who made the video and let it get on the internet, why would she care what another sorority at another school did?
as far as the matter (on a boat) being internal-it ceased to be internal when it hit the internet. the president is probably following(wisely) instructions from her national officers. no one from panhellenic or greek life would comment because it is a matter for delta gamma to deal with at this point.

I only showed my editor friend because the use of GC as a source, even as sophomores, we know a random forum member who did agree to be quoted should never be published.

Where discipline is the issue it is always internal business no matter where the story appeared. It would be inappropriate for any of them to give a quote. Internal business - no one else has a need to know.
If sending the article to friends was meant to be an example of poor journalistic practices, then I apologize. However, since she mentioned another in-state school, it came off to me as gloating.

I don't care how old your mother is or how active she's been. Clearly I was over it before it happened but YOU are not.
Mistakes fucking happen. They made a mistake. Of all they things they could have been filmed doing, THIS RIGHT HERE wasn't hardly the worst of it.
And my mother's sorority chapter was suspended from her campus WELL AFTER SHE PLEDGED. She is not aghast and neither is her child.
And my mother is 60 and will beat your mother's ass, so fa fa fa.

Why, because they didn't give your daughter a bid? Actually, looking back at your posts..... yeah, get your story straight, lady.

I guess we will just have to wait and see. If she doesn't get a bid, there are many other opportunities that she can pursue and I know that her college experience will be a good one regardless. Thank you both for your feedback and expertise.

Actully, it doesn't hurt the whole Greek system.
