Jobs

As long at the bills are paid, you're not both living pay check to pay check and have a contingency plan in place for having kids you should be good to go. It shouldn't matter who is making more money. In most marriages, couples want to have a family. Typically, the mom takes some time off on maternity leave. In some jobs, maternity leave does not always guarantee the same pay check. Some companies, like Bank of America, do offer Paternity leave so that dads can spend time away. Regardless of who spends some time away from work the reality is that you may be in for some restricted cash flows. Plan in advance. Don't live beyond your means. If you live below or at your means you will be able to save money throughout the year. When parenthood comes make sure you have some type of strategy ahead of time. Do that and you will be comfortable.

Fraternally,

Boodleboy322

Who's to say she won't pursue something else? You're making assumptions, dude. I get you need finances to pay bills, but to turn down someone who might be a perfect match for you just because she works a fast food job is pretty arrogant.
well, i'm arrogant. and i have standards. like my woman having a college degree. and her having professional aspirations. and i'm at a position in my life where it's absolutely unacceptable to date someone who is working in fast food. if she's my age and she's working fast food, we are at two different places in our lives and have no business being together. the only people who think that's arrogant are the people who are working in fast food. and their feelings aren't my problem anyway. there's enough fish in the sea that i won't worry too much about it anyway.

That's why we're friends. Keep doing what you do. You're seasoned enough to know what's up, and the dating pool that you started with fit your standards.

And while cheerfulgreek is clicking her heels in the air and co-signing, I hope she knows that what you said isn't the same thing as what she had been saying.

Well, I actually do agree with him, except for the part about being "arrogant". I said I wouldn't have any interest in a guy who really isn't going anywhere. I'm not saying just because he works at Scrubway that he's a bad guy or anything like that. It's just that I find that to be more of a distraction than an asset, and I just think a guy like that would be like dragging around dead weight. I said I like feeling financially secure, and working at Burger Slinger isn't going to provide financial security. But, again, I'm not saying a guy like that is a bad guy. Just because he's not the guy for me, doesn't mean he won't be perfect for someone else. It's just that I'm not going to settle for less than the best of myself, and I don't think anything is wrong with that. So, yes, I do "co-sign" with starang21.

And in other news, it is cold outside.

Like I said, as long as you know that what he said isn't (necessarily) the same (tone) as what you had been saying.

I don't know what you mean by "tone". He said he wouldn't date someone who has low aspirations, and I wouldn't either.
