Sorority Stalker Going Through Recruitment
My sorority has the groupie that knows everyone by name and face. She pretends that she knows everyone, in which she doesn't. She say quotes like "oh that is something so and so would say" in which she has never met that person. She hasn't even gone through recruitment yet and she is already calling herself a sister of the sorority. What should be the best way to go around this situation?

Um, don't give her a bid?

In which you write like AA Milne....
Subtly call her out on it. Next time she does that, just casually say, "oh, how do you know so-and-so?"

Without going into too much detail about the situation with my chapter right now, we also have a PNM who is doing this (among other things), and is definitely rubbing all of the sisters the wrong way. A PNM claiming she's a sister when she's not will definitely do that. While some of them are mad about the situation, I keep telling them to let it go.
In the end, if all of your sisters feel this strongly about this girl, she won't receive a bid, she won't be wearing letters, and she'll end up looking like the fool.
Don't let it get to you. And DEFINITELY don't let your feelings toward her reflect outwardly amongst other people. Be the lovely, young ladies you are and just brush off her comments. I'm sure she'll eventually give up on the charade.

I honestly have no idea why this needs to be posted on a message board. If she's that obnoxious to all of you, chances are you'll cut her and move on. I can't imagine why it needs to go further than that.

I can understand why the OP is upset...if psycho girl is telling random people she's a member of the sorority, they'll believe her and may get a bad impression of the sorority.
Make sure all your sisters' names are on your website (so hers will be prominently missing and she'll look like an idiot if someone checks up on her).

Remain polite no matter what, but make sure everyone understands how to respond to an overly hopeful PNM without leading them on, even by accident. Some people can't take hints, but if your chapter reacts negatively that will likely effect your image on campus more than her persistence will. Just don't give her a bid and be polite to her.

Am I to assume that some members like her? Otherwise this isn't that big of an issue, because you be polite and then cut her.

Thank you all for your advice. I truly appreciate it. As for the PNM, her best friend (who is a member of the chapter) said the only reason she wants to join is to have the ability to say that she is in a sorority. Also, she loves hanging out with the frat guys that we hang out with. To me, those are not good reasons to join a sorority. Recruitment is a week away, and I shall see how does this girl acts around the entire chapter. Thanks once again for your advice.

LOL. If her "best friend" is dissing her like that, I don't think you need to worry about her getting a bid from your group. Hopefully some other sorority will dig her and then she's their worry not yours...but hey, for every pot there's a lid.
