Yes, Rush. That's the point! American medicine is superb--for those who can get it. And, in Hawaii, no one gets special treatment, because everyone can get it.

By accepting socialist medical treatment in Hawaii, therefore, Rush Limbaugh has shown that, when one is ill, what matters is the availability of quality health care, even if it is socialist.

Rush follows a long litany of conservatives, such as all Members of Congress that have a medical office paid for by taxpayers available in the Capitol, by Dick Cheney who had socialist pacemakers implanted paid for by the government, and George W who had a government-paid socialist colonoscopy while in office. Members of Congress over 65 get single-payer socialist medical care from Medicare.

Hawaii has had nearly-universal employer-mandated health insurance since 1974. Although its Pacific Island location makes the costs of everything--from gasoline to milk to ice cream to housing--the highest in the nation, health care premiums in Hawaii, for comprehensive care with small co-pays and deductibles, are nearly the lowest and their costs per medicare beneficiary are the lowest in the nation.

I'm confused by this whole Healthcare debate because from where I stand, I've seen people on the system get healthcare, while I got NOTHING as a college student in graduate school. Is this to help us push through for healthcare for people like ME in grad school/ law school or is it to give more HANDOUTS to the same people know how to play the system. Please explain. I'm not being sarcastic-I'm being honest. I really don't know.


So sad (about Americans not knowing about Hawaii)...yet, so true. My boyfriend's brother once told me that those damn Puerto Ricans (which I am) need to go back to their own damn country. I asked him where Puerto Ricans come from and he gave me a blank look as he replied, "I don't know-Mexico." Wow-Just WOW!!!

whoa what an idiot.

This loosely ties into the transgender thread. What he said is completely dumb and wrong but it makes sense to him and those who feel as he does. Many of those people would also sport the conservative umbrella because they don't know that conservative isn't synonymous with dumb and bigoted.

Hahaha. Yes, he was confused when his daughter wasn't doing so well in Social Studies. Gee, I wonder. Yes, I hate when people say, "I'm conservative," as their means of letting their bigoted ways be seen as acceptable since they already labeled themselves as such.

I have to admit, I would have an issue with a Transgendered President.

The whole healthcare debate is EXACTLY about people like you. People who have too much to qualify for Medicaid programs, who are full time students, who are working full time but their employers don't provide health insurance, the uninsured and underinsured. It is for the people who own a house and make $30,000 a year but can't get health insurance because they are diabetic (pre-existing condition). It is for the entrepreneur who wants to quit his/her job to start a small business but can't because their family is reliant on the health insurance the employer provides. The indigent have access to stuff. The homeless have access to stuff. These are the uninsured and underinsured. These are the people that health care reform is targeting.
