Beer Still Allowed, Hard Liquor to Be Banned (Kansas State U IFC Vote)

The IFC at Kansas State U has reportedly voted to ban hard liquor in fraternities. Beer will continue to be allowed. (I think there are a few "dry" chapters at K-State that may not allow any alcohol in their houses.) I'm not sure how this will be monitored or "enforced," but I suppose time will tell.
See article posted on the student paper’s site:

Excerpts:
Published: Tuesday, November 3, 2009
Updated: Tuesday, November 3, 2009

The Interfraternity Council took final action Monday night by banning hard liquor within fraternities by a vote of 15-7-1.

This means that effective January 1, 2010, the only liquor allowed in fraternities will be beer.

Brandon Harder, IFC president, said the ban was in the works for eight months. . . .

It might cut down on alcohol poisoning, unless people have their own before the party. I don't think it will have much of an affect on other behavior, like public urination or driving under the influence, but it is a lot harder to get alcohol poisoning from beer due to the alcohol percentage being much lower than hard alcohol.

Can they have wine in a box?

Unless you have an alum who happen to own a liquor distribution company.
