At this point, you may *think* you want to join a certain sorority. However, you might change your mind later, and then at that point everyone will know that you were an interest for "so-and-so" who is now trying to join "this-and-that" and it's just not a good way to start out. If there are any large "meet the greek" events coming up, try to attend. You can also ask the Greek Life Office for help.
I am in a Latina sorority. Whenever a woman I've never seen at events would come up to me/email me and say "I want to join your sorority," I would think to myself, "Hmmm, right, she doesn't even know anything about it." Really, the best way to learn about an organization is to go to the events it puts on for the campus/community and get to know individual members.
