I know the young man through class, and though it is a big class I knew exactly who when the news broke but wasn't naming names. It has been a rough semester with the two students who had falling accidents, and this one just hits a little bit closer since I sat with him. I haven't been back to that class and I'm going to pick a new seat when I do.
I'm going to refrain from making any other comments or answering questions out of respect for him and his family and friends, as he was a classmate and it isn't my place nor is it appropriate or productive.
