Gift/recognition idea for bio sister nominated for award
You all often have the best ideas, so I figured I'd come here to ask this question.
My biological sister has been nominated for a business award. She is one of four nominees, and the award will be presented at a luncheon hosted by the governor.
I was wondering what is appropriate to give my sister as congratulations of being nominated? I was thinking about bringing flowers to the event, but if she doesn't win, would that be awkward?

Perhaps some sort of "business-y" type gift? (Ie, a personalized portfolio, business card holder, etc.)

Flowers are always nice but I wouldn't take them with you. I'd send her flowers to be delivered to her house as a congratulations for being nominated. Then also hand carry a business-like gift. Nice pens are always great for something like that.
Staples has some executive-style, leather yet feminine portfolios. I recently got one that is very stylish and it wasn't expensive at all. i don't see it on the website but if you check your local store, i'm sure they're in stock.
