^ Not necessarily, it depends on the person/region/country and so forth. As another example, I have a number of friends who would never say they're British, opting rather for "I'm Northern Irish", or "I'm Welsh", or "I'm Scottish". So it's just as likely that someone from England would say "I'm English" instead of "I'm British".

When I was an active, about 25 years ago, a girl who was from an Arab country (don't remember which one) went through. She was a HOT property, probably because she was just so different and interesting.

Of course things change, but from reading what's going on here, in many parts of the country interesting and different is GOOD. The only problem I see is on the campuses where recs are absolutely required you might run into problems unless you have lots of American contacts. Worry about that part, not your nationality.
