hmmm, something interesting: on the UTC campus, NPC Recruitment had approx. 390 women go through Rush, with 212 bids given out; IFC Recruitment had 115 men go through Rush, with Lambda Chi getting the highest number at 35.

Well, the question is: Is the economic downturn affecting rush for men more than women? Usually, the numbers of PNMs are equal for both genders at UTC. Is this happening on other campuses?

Thoughts? Theories?

This is a very interesting question. I don't think that we'll have our data until December or so, but it would be an interesting exercise to look at some numbers over the past few years.

What makes this tough, however, is the implementation of True Brother which seems to have been a very effective rush tool.

True Brother is the way of our future and I don't know if we can ever normalize the data.

Now, don't I sound like Bro. Elgan Baker!!

It's a similar situation at my campus, Southeast Missouri State University. While almost all the sororities made quota as usual and had roughly 180 girls successfully receive a bid, almost every fraternity saw far smaller groups of men accepting bids. While the average size chapters will generally get is anywhere from 15-20, most chapters got only about 10-15 with one getting none at all.

Thumbs up St. Louis College of Pharmacy

Pi-Lambda Zeta at STLCOP got an all-time high of 18 AM's this year.

And is it just me, or is Tom back yet again?

I just had to mention that SEMO was probably the best chapter I ever had the pleasure of visiting. Yes, it was 8 years ago... but those guys were great and I still love the t-shirts the brothers I met gave me. They were on the SEMO cheer squad and I was one of their camp instructors.

I also met a brother named Jason. I think his last name was "Galloway" (he had a very prominant nose) and he was hilarious. Of course, you probably wouldn't know these guys because they would have graduated a LONG time ago.

Back then the SEMO chapter was the king of the campus and had a house by a hill they called "Pike Hill" (I think because the Pikes had the house closest to it).

Anyway, loved that chapter and loved the great city of Cape Girardeau... and the bars that have probably long since closed -- Ragsdale's and Show Me's.

Well, you'll be glad to know that things aren't too different around here, haha. Ragsdale's and Show Me's are still open, and we call that hill "Greek Hill" now instead of "Pike Hill". I've personally never met Galloway, but I know some of our alumni talk about him every now and then. And we've had guys on the cheer squad every year still.

Jason Galloway used to be our High Pi, so many of our traditions stem from SEMO... but that was years ago.
