				website may 1st report...

			hello out there!
the gamma chi website team is currently as follows:

Hawaiiagd
star turtle

Sotrue1920 has expressed an intrest, but has not gotten back with us about it ~~ i've noticed an intrest on the boards again for webpage help.

As for progress - mai & i are currently developing the basic graphics and such to create the webpage. As soon as there is a basic page up and running, the address will be posted on GC as it's own forum.

The basics of the page - the info in the original post of this thread will be included. that is really all the info we have to work with right now. any committe or chairperson who wishes to have info placed into the page, please email me ~ jetnica@aol.com ~ or pm me with this info.

That is the update from the website committee for may 1st

thanks everyone!

				some thoughts...

Where would money for shirts or dues go?
could we have a blue shirt with gold letters on it?

 How much for dues?

How about dividing chapters into either states or prov of home rez or by state where the current university students go to school?

What about the founding date? What date shall be chosen for that?

we could have as the mottoone of the jesuit sayings "Pursue excellence, nothing else is worth your time."

We could also network and while fraternities do often have road trips to other chapters within the organization, if we are in a place where a member of this virtual glo resides, why not stop by? Make that part of the trip... expand! Greek unity!

"it is generally thoguht that what is not seen does not exist" (i think i got it right)

Hi, the MSN chat is open to the public for now, I can simply change that with one click of the button. I think we should use the MSN, I will close it, but I need a list of people who should be there. As for dues, I don't think we should be paying for anything right now, until we know for sure that this idea has goten off the ground. Honestly, I don't want to send money to strangers, and if for some reason Gamma Chi folds before it even gets started I don't want my money going to waste.

 | It's a more worthy ause than beer which is what i;d probably end up spending it on if I didnt send it to them for the t-shirt and dues

Oh I totally agree that it is a worthy cause. I never said it wasn't. In my case, I have my other dues to pay, and I have rent to pay, and I tuition to pay, etc, etc, so I don't want to be giving my money to something that may or may not take off. I certainly hope it does, but I think dues should be the last thing we have to worry about. Before we start woring where we send money. We need to know how much dues are going to be, etc. I think in the case of dues, we need to have a budget, so we can see where exactly the money needs to go, and where it will go. I think the budget also needs to voted on, and it should only be voted on my members. Do we have a treasurer? Maybe once the comittees have posted their reports we can discuss the budget. Just a suggestion

			Hi Everyone,
About the dues - I have a suggestion. A community service group I belong to has a "pay as you play" type of system. There are no dues to be a member. Though, if you want a t-shirt, you pay for it. Want to go to the annual trip to Disneyland? You pay for it. Want an embroidered club jacket? You pay for it. Club dinners? You guessed it! You pay or you don't eat!
	Get the picture?
This works out really well for us and I think it may work for Gamma Chi as well. For example, the person in charge of GC t-shirts will take orders and accept the money for it. She or he will not order one for you if you don't send the money. This also helps for people who are on tight budgets and don't want to have mandatory dues. Of course, we do have to trust the person taking the money...then again, people send their money to strangers on eBay all the time.

I think that's a good idea. Although I guess we need to know what needs to be paid for? Is it just t-shirts and badges, etc?

   | I like this idea. We're scattered all over the world, so it's not like we can get together for a formal or anything very easily. We have the force of numbers to get bulk discounts on things like T-shirts... you want a T-shirt, you pay your share to whoever is coordinating T-shirt orders. Same with badges. Rush, that lovely huge expenditure that all GLO's have to face, is not really relevant - how can you put on a skit in cyberspace? In short... we don't really "need" the dues.

(Actually that brings up another point... how do we "rush" ?)

I like the idea of a t-shirt! I also suggest that if you are a member of a Greek Organization and you do something that you also have a way to alos wear your colors or name!
This will give people an idea what we do and if they ask about the GX then tell them it is a group of Greeks who are doing for the betterment of Greeks and the World as well by working together as one!

			Navane,

I think this is a great idea! We do something like this in our org. For example, I order a lot of stuff for myself and I'll let everyone else know what I'm ordering and how much it costs. If they would like for me to order for them I will after they send the money.

Okay, I just now read this thread about Gamma Chi. (I finished school last week, so today I actually had the time). So how does membership work. Is it invitation only? What steps should people take to get involved? Please PM if necessary.

			Hi,
I have a question. I have been approving people for membership that are on a committee or have signed up to be a big/little. There are some that are interested in joining Gamma Chi, but haven't signed up or anything. Should i approve them to join the community (where we will be having our ceremony) or should I wait and we can initiate them as new members after those that have signed up have been initiated?

 Thanks,

 Emily
