This isn't that kind of forum.

We're being realistic.

A junior at UGA is not going to have an easy time.

I originally posted without expecting this thread to become a venting place for everyone who probably shouldn't have read it to begin with. If you don't like it, I understand, but posting about how you "hate people like me" doesn't get any of us anywhere. I wanted an honest response about my chances, so thanks for those of you who have posted something informative for me and others who are in my position.

I'd like to think I have been quite informative.

UGA recruitment is quite competitive and it's a tough environment for a junior who may not have relationships with any current sorority women, recommendations, etc. It just is.

If you're prepared for that, then go for it. At least you know what you're up against.

but that's the thing, we HAVE BEEN posting "something informative" for people in "your position." "Your position," however, has become everyone's "position," and its hardly unique.

So I can agree, this was a semi-productive thread, and it's on your part because you couldve taken the time to read what's already there. That wouldve given you the "honest response" you were looking for.

(and sidenote: i feel like i need to add the "i just wanted an honest response" to the GC newbie poster checklist." all in favor?)

wow, you guys need to get a life. Look, I posted a "greek" question on a "greek chat" forum. All of the recent posts questioning chances for getting bids were about people who are married, or freshmen who are 19, etc. None that apply to me. Maybe threads from days/weeks ago were similar to mine, but sorry, I don't really care to search that far back when I can simply create a new post! If I had known posting such a thing (God forbid) would've created such a backlash, I wouldn't have posted it. So, I apologize to all that I have irked, but seriously, if you don't have anything informative to say, why post?

LOL. I was waiting for this post.

Look, chick77, UGA is a competitive school. Being a junior will likely hurt your chances. You'll never know unless you try, though. You won't get a response like "You have a 32.45% chance of getting a bid!"

No need to get all defensive. Keep it moving.

If you read the "Top Newbie Questions" thread, the first thing it says is to do a search. There is actually quite a bit written here that's current about UGA recruitment for upperclassmen (sophs and juniors). The recruitment culture at UGA hasn't changed since 2008 (time when other posts were made).

Bottom line: if you think you want to rush, by all means do it. You'll have a tough time getting a bid.

But even if you don't, you'll meet some new people.

Thanks for the help; I'll be sure to look at that. I do want to rush, and probably will.

Just an FYI -- There's a search function to help you look through older threads. If you use it, there's a good chance that you can an answer to your question, whatever it may be. That's not to say people aren't allowed to ask questions, but many answers are already out there.
