One of my sorority sisters (let's call her "Katy") was from Florida, and she was ALWAYS cold. We could count on her to be the first to switch from shorts to jeans, the first to break out her winter coat (as early as October), etc.
I never get cold. If it were up to me, I'd keep the thermostat in my house at 62 all winter.
So one year, during work week and rush (oops, recruitment), some of us were giving Katy a good-natured ribbing, because she was always complaining about how cold it was in the student center, where most of the sororities' rush parties were held. She was always in a sweater except during parties. I think she wore a wrap with her pref dress. Keep in mind that this was in August in Boston.
After recruitment, a small group of sisters and new members (including Katy and me) got together and went for ice cream. I happened to sit directly over an A/C vent set into the floor. So I had cold air blowing up at me, and I was eating ice cream. I shuddered and broke out in goosebumps.
Katy noticed, and said loudly, "I have to point out to you, aephi alum, that YOU ARE COLD."
The sisters got a good chuckle, and so did the new members after we explained it to them.
Katy, btw, wasted no time in moving back to Florida after graduation.
