I agree w/ AlphaFrog. Not only that, but there is a small chance that even if they did pick turquoise & grey they did so for different reasons that ZTA chose those colors.
Unless they are blatantly copying another sorority (similar name/symbols/philanthropy/creed/etc) I don't see a cause for concern.

It's funny that you bring that up, because a while back, I found a sorority on the University of Rhode Island website that called itself Zeta Epsilon Tau Alpha, and had turquoise and gray as its colors and a white violet as its flower... but since I just looked again and saw that it's now a chapter of ZTA founded on May 2 of this year, I guess it's all good.

I fail to see where AST falls in the color scheme...none of those sororities next to it have emerald green and gold as either color!
And yeah, DG has the anchor too, but we were founded close to one another, far apart from one another. Doubtfully an issue.

ASA & AST - Green & Gold
ASA & AGD - Green & Red (and Buff is hard to do without making it look yellow/gold)
ASA & AOII - Red (and White, although I think white is unofficial)

On the other hand, everyone could be wrong... maybe turquoise and grey aren't being used for the sorority. She might just live in Happy Pony Rainbow Land where everything comes in bright, pretty colors!

Since this thread is basically useless anyway, ASTalumna06 or fantASTic, could one of y'all tell me if you use the anchor for the same reason we do--it being the traditional symbol of hope? I looked on the AST website and didn't see any info on it. If you can't tell me, that's fine too. I was just really curious because I don't really know any ASTs personally.

Nope, we're just red (AOII). The only red and white we have is red and white day at Convention - because asking hundreds of women to wear just red (or finding clothing in JUST red) can be a bit much.

That's what I meant - anything AOII I see is usually red & white, because there are so many things that wouldn't work *just* red, and white is probably just the easiest alternative. But it does make you match us.

Technically, wouldn't it be you matching us?! (and our color is still only Cardinal - the only unofficial thing we have is the Panda as a mascot)

After reading this, I actually looked up information about DG, and I didn't realize that your original symbol was just an "H" for hope, and that's how you came to use the anchor. I like it
That isn't the same reason why/how the anchor was chosen for us. I can tell you that our creed is derived from the four symbols on our crest. But as for the deeper meaning.. it's a secret!
