Locally we knit scarves to send to Boise for the Olympians to wear in the last Special Olympics. Knitting scarves takes time, but it could be used as a way to get women involved during informal recruitment. I can't count the number of times people have come up to me because I've got something on my kneedles and they want to learn. You could always finish the main scarf and have tassels attached at a recruitment event, or make pompoms.
