I'm going to play devil's advocate:
If you look at who is the executive producer (aka who helped financed the movie), Beyonce's name appears. Same for Cadillac Records (which I thought she was pretty good in, IMHO).
So if someone like Beyonce has to finance movies so she can be in them, imagine the struggle for other African-American actresses who don't have B's money to get in movie roles.
(And I know some of you will say that maybe no one's calling her and that's why she has to be in her own movies, but that's not really the point. Besides, she didn't finance Dreamgirls.)
