Tenaha Mayor George Bowers, 80, is remarkably unapologetic or concerned, noting that the seizures helped them build a new police station and add a second police car for the town: “It’s always helpful to have any kind of income to expand your police force.”
The story is another example of the abuse of asset forfeiture laws by towns and cities looking for more revenue. Critics is called it “highway piracy.”
Tenaha has seized property from at least 140 motorists between 2006 and 2008. Only half were ever charged. People have complained that Tenaha police snatched anything of value from cash to cell phones to jewelry to a pair of sneakers, and even the car itself. Linda Dorman,an elderly lady from Akron, Ohio, says that police took her life savings of $4000. Her lawyer has alleged that most if not all of those stopped in the town were African Americans with out of state plates.

I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't the only place where this has happened.

KFC and Churches....HELLO!!!! And don't get mad because some people were smart enough to get their chicken during lunchtime (and probably got several boxes too).
But I wonder if KFC will have that same problem later this week because they are giving away ONE piece of their new grilled chicken.

Hell, they could go get a burger or a taco. Some of those folks were acting like they were sick and chicken was the cure.
I don't think KFC should have any issues, though. I don't see too many people going out of their way for one piece of chicken.

The KFC by me runs out of chicken all the time. It's bizarre. I'm always like "How can you run out of chicken? That's what you do????"

I saw a poster for a new product they're making...grilled chicken! Wtf, your name isn't Kentucky Grilled Chicken. It didn't even look that good in the picture and you know the picture looks better than the real thing.
