Yeah, and isn't it a coinky dink that we were just talking about changing numbers of groups in rounds in that IU thread?

OPhiA Ginger: according to this story, the "struggling/rebuilding" house is a local, so they can cut whoever and however many they want - the only numbers pressure they have is what they put on themselves. They don't have a national pressuring them to take any old thing with an ovary for the sake of quota/total.

I'm thinking that might be about right because the # of prefs is so limited.

Wow. 8 to 3 is a pretty big change. If you get a full schedule, you have to drop 5 houses?

looking forward to your next post, eaglesbaby!

i'm new on GC and decided to join after reading a few of these amazing rush stories!!
it brings back all of the emotions of recruitment from last year! I can't wait to go through rush as an active come fall, even though my sisters say it's harder to do it on that side of rush than as a PNM. Still super excited, though!!

anyways, I love this rush story! GO STARFRUIT!!! <3 <3

PNMs can bring purses into houses at my school. Sometimes I wish they didn't because I have seen way too many of them texting during events...

You know, I'm usually pretty quiet on these "controversial" topics. But seriously, what does it hurt any of you if what she's saying is fake? I'm assuming it's true; but, even if it's not, it's not going to radically change my world. Yes, we've established that these are rules and norms you may not have experienced on your campus. It was worth saying once, or twice, or even three times (I'm being generous). After that enough is enough. These are recruitment stories ladies. Not witch hunts. Let me enjoy the story!

It doesn't "hurt" me at all.

However, what does it "hurt" for the posters to just own up to something being a work of fiction? We read fiction books, watch fiction TV shows and enjoy fiction movies. No one is opposed to fiction. What we are bothered by is someone trying to pass something off as true when it clearly is not.

Why does it matter? To me it matters because there are non-greeks who read these boards- PNMs, parents, etc. We deal with stereotyping enough as greek letter organizations and fight negative perceptions by those outside our groups. What we don't need is someone who is not a member of a GLO perpetuating those negative ideas by writing a story that claims to be factual. This particular poster has mentioned serving margaritas during recruitment, has a main character in her story who could not be more shallow or mean, and does not paint an accurate picture of what recruitment parties are like. (bashing each other in the bathroom? During the party? Please.)

I personally would have no issue if the poster simply starts with "What you are about to read is a work of fiction/embellishment of a real recruitment, but it still makes for a good story. I hope you enjoy reading it."

I personally couldn't care less if this recruitment story happens to be true or not- but you do make some excellent points, Blondie93. GLOs have enough bad press as it is... and PNMs and parents are on this site. That being said, I wasn't aware of just how many PNMs are rather Rachel-ish until I started rush. But yeah... in the bathroom dissing, not so much in my experience. However, it is good IMO to alert people that bi$%#es like Rachel are really out there and to keep a thick skin, I like the way you deal with it in your story! And the Starfruit house is right there for you! <3

I'm pretty sure it's a fabricated story or at least only partially true (based on some aspects of her own rush experience). Either way, I love it!

looking forward to the next installment, please keep going! =]

Because unless fake stories take place at schools with all locals, they end with PERPS. Perps piss me off.

There are no schools that did 14-11-8-3 in Fall 2008. 14-10-6-3 or 14-8-3. Another school did 20-14-8-3 but no 11 in there. None in Fall 2007 either. That's why I asked when this recruitment took place - but I was not answered.

Not so sure about the part where nobody can seem to "place" the school and customs. However, my neighbor went to school in the Midwest and confessed to asking to use the bathroom during one of her house visits. She was not interested and had not connected with the group and says she still feels badly to this day because the active's facial expression went from enthusiastic to "Huh" in a second. So....she did use the bathroom without a chaperone or any type of formality. Sometimes things happen a bit different than some folks remember.

OK!!!!!! I am editing this to reflect that I gave the benefit of the doubt and did not doubt....until Eaglesbaby emerged as a split personality!!!! And I thought soap operas had cornered the market on the whole multiple personality thing! Eaglesbaby, Blondie....you, I mean the both of you, need a life!
