I agree with this.
I think you're right on for the continued interest letter. Something like
"I remain interested in attending X Law and will enroll if accepted. I really like X's program in chasing ambulances. I think I could contribute to X because I am really awesome."
Obviously expand alittle more but short and sweet is fine -- just be sincere and don't say you'll attend if admitted if you don't mean it.
If you're able to visit the school easily that can help too. I know when my alma mater waitlisted people a "good" campus visit could help sway the adcomm.
