Back in the old days, we had a 'last 10 posts' frontpage. This is sort of like that only better.

Yeah, I remember that, but I don't really like this new setup. I think that, for most people, they're not going to be interested in every new posting. If they're really interested in a certain thread, they could subscribe to it, or go about it the same way as MysticCat.

I try not to complain about webpage changes; I have friends who works for a couple of the social networking sites, and I hear horror stories of the nasty emails and messages they get when the site is changed.

You're absolutely right. www.greekchat.com used to simply redirect straight to the forum index page at www.greekchat.com/gcforums/

Now the main site homepage, www.greekchat.com , is its own page and no longer redirects to the forum index, but as you mentioned the logo is still linked to that page.

I'll be making a number of other changes to GC very soon. With part of that I'll see about improving the site navigation so it's easier to get around to all the different pages, etc.

Quite some time ago that old 'last 10' page was made incompatible after one of the forum software upgrades and I didn't have a replacement, so that's when the root homepage url was set to redirect straight to the forum index.

The main/root homepage url is now setup to display the last 100 most recently active threads. The forum index page (where the root url was previously redirecting to) has not changed.

In the 'last 100 active threads' list on www.greekchat.com one of the columns displays for each thread the GCer who posted the last message in the thread as well as the time that they posted it, similar to how it has been in the thread lists for all the various forums throughout the site.

I just made a small change to include the thread starter as well as multi-page links for threads that have more than one page. Now the display format should be a lot more similar to how threads are listed in specific forums. One main difference, though, is that on the home page recent threads list the forum that the thread is in is also listed on the right.
