I'm confused.

Twitter lets people know what you're doing.
If you don't feel comfortable letting people know what you do, don't sign up for it. As I said previously, it saved my ass last December when we had an island-wide blackout. It's also a good source of roads to avoid when dealing with rush hour traffic.
You're not just letting people know what you'd doing. Sometimes people post breaking news. Or links to news worth reading. My friend even sold Girl Scout cookies for his daughter on Twitter. It's become the 3rd largest social networking site online -- only behind #1 Facebook and #2 Myspace.
I like reading celeb and lawmaker tweets, especially. Hearing from Ryan Seacrest that he was about to go on live with the American Idol results show and he hadn't peed since lunch was quite entertaining to read.
