And understandably so.

Sen may be in for some evil mojo, though.

An iPod for the Queen

Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama visited the queen at the palace this evening and presented her with a gift of a video iPod with an inscription on it and songs pre-loaded. The Obamas also gave the queen a rare musical songbook signed by American composer Richard Rodgers.

MUCH better job in the gift department - the songbook (assuming Her Majesty enjoys the composer) is unique, and the ipod is a great example of American ingenuity and technological know-how. I hope someone did his/her research, and the songs are favorites of the Queens.

I can't be alone in hoping that one of the songs on it is Bohemian Rhapsody.

Bohemian Rhapsody?

Queen does a rockin' acoustic version of "God Save the Queen" - so here's hoping~

I feel so bad for PM Brown. First his DVD's don't work, then the EU makes fun of him, then he gets called a white devil.

I want to buy that lad a pint, he's a tough go of it as of late, hannit he?

It's better than the DVDs, but the iPod still doesn't seem like a particularly good gift for an 82 year woman. But, who knows, maybe she'll love it; maybe she wanted one, (but if she did, it'd seem like she'd already have one.)

I think I'm just a fan of boringly traditional gifts for heads of state, now that we've been talking about it. If you can make a gift symbolic, so much the better, but I'd avoid technological stuff for octogenarians.

ETA: actually, now that I've seen what was uploaded http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpu...oes-one-g.html onto it, I like it better. I would have only put one Obama thing on it, but to give the Queen video of her state visit to the US in 1957 just seems really cute.

The songbook seems nice by my traditional standards.

The fact that "In return, the queen gave the Obamas a signed portrait of herself and her husband inside a silver frame," just makes me laugh. She wasn't really putting herself out, was she? Do you suppose it was a reflection of what happened with Brown?

I doubt it. The Queen enjoy giving a photo of herself to everybody. I think Obama should sell on Ebay to pay for the AIG bailout.

From what I heard the iPod included numerous Broadway shows and videos of the Queen's visits to the States.

Did anyone ever actually confirm that the DVD's didn't work. Because since the DVDs were provided by the American Film Institute, I'm still calling "unfounded assumption" on that.
