i think the op was just trying to run some of the sororities on her campus down. she could have asked the same question without naming sororities and gotten the same answers.

End hijack.

FWIW, back in the day I was not even CONSIDERED for sweetheart EVEN THOUGH IHQ though enough of my efforts on behalf of the then-colony to have their International President present me with a badge replica necklace. Nope, I was told I could not be sweetheart because I didn't sleep with the members (I replied that I was married to the president, but apparently that wasn't enough ). Once I figured out what kind of "dreams" they wanted a "girl of", I had a completely different view of ALL their sweethearts.

Not related to the OP really, but at my campus, at least when I was there and the groups I knew of, sweetheart or dream girl or whatever was an honor given to a girl well-liked and respected by a chapter, not someone slutting it up or even someone who officially helped the chapter.
I guess it must vary from campus to campus.

At best, she was not very panhellenic,. At worst, well, let me just leave that to everyone's imagination to fill in the___________.

It's ok SWTXBelle, you got the badge and she got, well, herpes. From my personal experience with the situation sleeping around gets you blacklisted before it gets your sweethearted

My mom used to get those Mrs. Fields large cookies for me every year on my Birthday. Except it said "Happy Birthday Sandy," obvi.
Those cookies are really yummy!

Yet, on one the one hand, it can make your organization look bad, especially if your car or something is outside the fraternity house at 7 am. When people ride by, they do not think"oh.. Jane shacked at the XYZ house again." Its "a ABC shacked at the XYZs house!" Or "gracious, did you hear about the ABC that shacked at the XYZ house last night?"
On the other hand, it can make you look bad personally. You do not want to be known as the girl who always shacks at a certain house (or multiple houses!). It is just not classy or discrete.

This thread makes me think of the Walk of Shame clip from the movie Sorority Boys: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2dX-ofUewM
