The RNC got a lot of shit for their ad that portrayed Obama as a star via comparisons with Hollywood, but that seems eerily prescient right about now, doesn't it?

I think it's weird because it's not like he's a former senator or anything.

I was starstruck by Condoleezza Rice when I met her but I was just a lowly Public and International Affairs student, lol.

Right. I mentioned that a few posts earlier. But, the speech to a joint session of Congress (which can only be at Congress's invitation) by a new president is essentially a State of the Union equivalent. For all intents and purposes, it is treated like a State of the Union, even if it isn't called one. (Prior to 1989, it was called a State of the Union Address.)

Eh y'all don't hate the playa, hate the game... President Obama just served up major game to us AND stepped up the game showing up the Congressional Tweeple who only type Tweets vs. doing Up-Downs... LOL...

I mean, after spending $1 Gajillion of my money, whatever amount of prime time is needed, I would like to hear an explanation, hayle, I think I'm owed since my taxes are paying for it. I'd rather hear an explanation, than about some bank fool who gets a stim. package and spent it on some $90K desk or whatever--then asking again!!!

I would imagine the autograph of the first African American President is going to be very valuable someday. I don't blame them for getting him to autograph it. Autographs are very collectible, especially for Presidents and his Presidency has historical significance beyond most. I would expect the same if a woman is elected President. You leave something like that to your heirs and you leave something of value. Don't you guys watch Antique Roadshow?

Aren't there about 10 new senators, and who knows how many new representatives?

Yeah, it seems incredibly inappropriate. Members of Congress asking for autographs? So bizarre....

As for Obama's speech; it was ok I guess. I think it's tough for him to say he's against bigger government what with the stimulus packages and the Biden-led task force, but I understand that he needed to say something like that as an answer to those of us who are anti-big government.

About the sheriff and the boats? That's pretty ballsy if it is a lie.

I buy it. Some news story I read said that representatives often stand in line for hours to get aisle seats for the address--if they're sitting in the aisle, they're more likely to get a hand shake or a hello from the president than if they're in the middle. So it's not just an Obama thing, but a general starstruck-by-the-president thing. "Congress, they're just like us!"
