Yeah, that entire movie made me cringe. Also, had the displeasure of watching some 70s movie called Cannibal Holocaust. Let's just say, CRINGE. Also saw another 70 movie called Last House in the Left or sumething like that. Rape scene was just brutal. And now I've herd that they're going to remake it.

Saw an ad for it last night. Didn't realize it was a remake, but I thought from just a trailer where you couldn't really tell what it was about that it looked kinda good.

In a nutshell (spoilers)

It's about 2 girls being raped and killed by escaped convicts. The escaped convicts then went to a house, who happen to be owned the parents of one of the girls. The parents find out these convicts raped and killed their daughter and went on a killing spree on the convicts. See the 70 version, very powerful, very raw. Does not gloss over the rape scene and you feel sick to your stomach watching it. It's Wes Craven's early movies.

I've heard too many lectures on Lincoln this week. I was just thinking how really weird that movie would be if the main character's name was Mary Todd...

Cannot stress this enough: if you get the chance to see the 1970's version, PASS!!! I had nightmares for years over that movie, and probably will again tonight.
Men will cringe over one scene in particular; most will be grossed out over the whole thing. Even though the beginning is cheesy, it's horrifying.

I don't know how the guys on here feel, but my friend & I went to see Sin City with her guy friend and I thought he was going to throw up right there in the theater. There are quite a few scenes where this or that character's "family jewels" get pretty badly abused.

Saving Private Ryan, when the Nazi pushes the knife through the American's throat.
Grindhouse: Planet Terror - there are a bunch of places in that movie that are just gross, but I find the beginning parts, when the sick people start coming into the hospital with puss-oozing sores, to be especially gross. When Josh Brolin squeezes one on a patient's tongue and it pops all over his face, I want to gag.

that rape scene made me cry. i'm a really big fan of old horror movies but i wouldn't even consider that a horror movie in the traditional sense.

a remake of that movie is just wholly unnecessary. i generally hate remakes because they try to get all glitzy and effects oriented. this particular movie was so horrifying because of its low budget and because they didn't "separate" you from the violence and brutality of that rape scene. it was real. it SHOULD make you cringe and want to look away. i just feel that by remaking it they can separate the viewer from the reality of that scene with effects and make and make it look like rape is cool. it only serves to show yet more disturbing, sexualized violence to another generation...

I'm glad you typed that because I had a soapbox about remakes.

90%+ of horror movies are remakes and mostly unnecessary remakes. I want writers and directors to get their creative juices flowing and give us some NEW, good stuff.
