We call it "strutting". I think it varies from chapter to chapter, because I heard some other TX sorors call it "taking it around." Heard "strolling" too.

Motions in the struts vary from chapter to chapter too. Sometimes we'll do something kinda universal (Kick, International) out of town and mannnnn.... pinkys going up while other people rep the region while other people throw mirrors... I guess it's just individual flavor.

As far as jackets, I've never seen one with too much on it except on the internet. I'll be James Brown before I put all 18 of my LS's and our crossing times on my jacket!! But then again, my godmother has one with a huge ivy that covers the entire back and I thought it was a bit much. To each her own, I guess. Chapter, semester, line name and number is more than enough for me.

Also, I have a neo question for sorors - what song do you associate with us? I was wondering if this is regional as well. Down here it's

A Phi A - Pistol Grip Pump
DST - Brick House
Omegas - Atomic Dog
KAPsi - Flashlight
ZPB/PBS/SGRho/Iotas - ???

We have an Ivy Grip strut to "Pistol Grip Pump", but not really a recognized song. I've heard it's "Cutie Pie" by One Way, but we never play that here... I've also heard some song called "Set It Off"....anybody know? Zetas, Sigmas, SGRhos, Iotas... could you share yours, if you don't mind?

Setting the Record Straight!

Just to set the record straight on this...our official nickname is SIGMA and we popularly accept SGRho also as the alternative. But you will never hear our national body call us by any other name besides SIGMAS and on paper also, it is only SIGMA.

The "Rho" thing is prevalent on the West Coast (Cali) and in some other areas where sorors don't mind being called Rho's. But the truth is, that many of my sorors can't stand to be called "Rho's" and ya might just pull back a nub if you address them as such . From a national/international standpoint, we don't even hear/use our last letter much except when referring to our Omega Rho chapter and our youth group, the Rhoer Club...and also when creating Sigma words like "rhoyalty" and "sorhors."

And that's the "real" truth.

So your official nickname is Sigma? I never knew that. Around here when people say "Sigma" they are generally talking about members of Phi Beta Sigma. They call Sigma Gamma Rhos SGRho's. Cuts down on confusion.

That is why we also accept SGRho and I believe that's why some have even accepted being called "Rho's" on some campuses. But sorors like myself love being called a Sigma just like my Nationals calls me. When I was welcomed into Sigmaland 15 years ago, I was welcomed into Sigma, not "Rho" and not "SGRho." As you can probably tell, I'm one of those sorors that you better call a Sigma no matter what, no matter what confusion there might be...but I'm okay with SGRho too, never "Rho" though.

I'm from the same area!
For AKA I would also add "Cutie Pie" or Michael Jackson's P.Y.T

Delta I would add Bad Mamma Jamma

I've never heard SGRho or Iota's songs.....
