I work with several of our chapters who are the only NPC group on a campus with several other locals. In that case, I don't think that being NPC helps them at all. Locals have a lot less in the way of restrictions (at least the ones I've seen do) and can have recruitment events with fraternities, alcohol, etc. while our chapters are still held to the same guidelines as any other campus. (ie: NPC agreements recommendations, and resolutions around recruitment) In addition, local dues tend to be MUCH lower than NPC organizations' dues because locals do not have to pay fees to their National, high insurance rates, etc. which is another sticking point in terms of attracting women.

I absolutely agree. Even on campuses with locals and more than one NPC, this occurs.

Heyyy just heard a rumor that XOP tried to become a chapter of Chi Omega but failed so they added the Rho on the end and haven't petitioned for that nation since. So, if that had of gone through (whenever that was), it would have been cool. I'd have to double check to see if that's true.

Plus, LTU has had a lot of thriving local sororities and fraternities.. but obviously that has declined. The only greeks that are doing really well are the national, noncultural ones.
