Hehe Kappa's Pi chapter is at Berkeley, too!
I know I've said it before, but I'm going down to Merced for their installation in April. Exciting!

I think Kappa had recruitment twice, so they have a solid new member group now. I have no idea how many there are. I could ask their adviser that I've been communicating with, but I don't know her very well...

Colonies at UCM
Hey everyone!
Here's an update:
The Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Delta Delta Delta was just recently installed over January 30th thru the 31st.
Kappa Delta Chi has broken up and decided to go in search of another sorority (after being colonized) due to little support from NALFO.
Delta Gamma has been colonized.
Kappa Kappa Gamma has been colonized.
Sigma Chi has been colonized.
And, Sigma Alpha Epsilon has been colonized.
Woot woot for greek life at UCM!

Whether you are admitted depends upon your gpa as well as how close you live to the school you would like to attend. There are four UC's and six Cal State schools that are "impacted" (what school is not these days?) and the majority of their students are within a certain radius. Outside of their "zones" you really have to be the top 1-2%.

Proximity to a campus has nothing to do with whether a student is admitted to that campus (for the UC system). Also, only out of state applicants really need to be in the top 1-2%, not in-state applicants. In state applicants should be in the top 12.5%, although I would highly recommend that students try to be in the top 5% of graduating seniors in California, given the competitiveness of the admissions process, and the fact that most campuses will be accepting fewer students due to the CA state budget crisis.

Reason: ETA: This post is not exactly on topic, but I want to make sure that potential applicants are receiving correct information.

Here's Merced Tri Delta's website with pictures from installation Great website too. I'm jealous of great chapter websites, my chapter has 140 actives and can't manage to find one sister who can keep a great, updated website? Ay yay yay it's 2009, folks!

Can't believe I missed this before...WHAAAAAT?
I've never heard of an individual chapter (or organization) disband because of lack of support from NALFO. There must be more to the story. Most of our orgs. were here before NALFO and did fine without it (just my opinion).

I've spoken to a few KDChi about this and you're right...it wasn't a NALFO thing.
(I don't know how that would even work -- NALFO affecting an org like that)

^I figured as much. How sad. KDChi doesn't have many chapters out this way, so it would have been nice to see them thrive at Merced.
