^^ Ewww that's nasty! I would freak out! My old dog killed a chicken once but I wasn't around when that happened. We just found a pile of feathers the next day. Hmm...

poor little duck
It takes a lot to gross me out when it comes to animals but humans-I can't even change a diaper.

I have a pretty strong stomach when it comes to gore but dealing with someone's poop and piss... ugh. no way. When the time comes, my husband will be on diaper duty. That's how that will work.

had a dystocia last night-chihuahua, luckily with some oxytocin and calcium gluconate she gave birth to her 4 pups but I had poop, blood and placenta everywhere-no problem eating during this Just another day at work.

Wow, I've never seen any patients experiencing dystocia, but I have heard horror stories about cases with the puppies getting stuck in the canal, not being able to breathe, and dying. I know what you mean about eating as if you've seen nothing, though.
We've got another tumor today (labrador retriever) but we're waiting for another Dr. to help remove it. This one is pretty big. He also has the laser with him, so we can't do the spay/neuter declaws we have either, until he gets here with the machine. I'll post pics of the tumor when we're done.

I worked at an emergency clinic in Chicago and one of the worst dystocias (dystociae?!) I ever saw was a poor mini dachshund momma. She had whelped 1 or 2 puppies at home, and then had continued to be in labor for over 24 hours! We pulled 2 dead pups out of her. One came out in parts, either because it was deformed, or because it was starting to decompose.
The best part? The female owner was pregnant herself! We were all thinking, "Good God, woman! Your dog has been pushing for over a day now, and you just now get her to the hospital?!" "We all wish a horrendous labor for YOU!"
That poor, poor dachsie

I meant to move the mat that's covering the duck blood and feathers before this snow started, thinking that then, when it finally melted, it would wash away the duck stuff. I forgot. Dangit.

Nothing worse than a dystocia with a pup stuck in the canal and you pull its head off trying to get it out (don't worry it was already dead b/c the dog had been in this condition for hours). Luckily we were able to get the puppy out b/c the people could not afford a c-section.

In the year and a half that we've had our cat, she has thrown up twice due to hairballs. Both times, my husband went to clean it up (once was on a wood floor, once on a rug) and as soon as he knelt down to do it, he ran to the bathroom and vomited himself. I cleaned it up both times, and it was no big deal. Didn't really smell, just looked weird. Took me all of 2 minutes to clean and disinfect both times. So now I wonder how he's ever going to deal if we have children...........
