Hey, I am really lost and confussed. I want to attend rush this semester, but the paperwork that is requested, such as recommendations and community involvement proof, ....is all this info needed before rush , or will the rush meeting inform you of the paperwork that you will need to turn in and when??? what actually takes place at rush..I am so confussed and I dont want to ask the other lady's on campus about what is needed nor do i want to ask the ladys that I AM FRIENDS WITH, who are actually apart of the chapter. ...please help anyone.... I know that rush is in about 2 weeks, so if I need to have these documents before rush then i need to get them like yesterday. I have went to the website and it really does not explain when this paperwork is due...before rush, during rush, or after the rush????? help clear the clutter in my brain, PLEASE! ..........and do you think its okay for me to ask the member who is my fiiend....because she has know idea that Iam interested.

First, it's C-O-N-F-U-S-E-D. One S.
Recommendations and resumes are generally reviewed well before rush, so that chapters have enough time to get to know the PNM on paper. Sending them in after recruitment's pointless. You don't send in a job application after you interview for a job.
The fact that you didn't even bother to let your friend know of your interest is like shooting yourself in the foot. Most normal people ask for help from people they know in real life first instead of asking strangers on a message board who may or may not be familiar with rush at your campus.

The reason why I didnt let the friend know is because I have another friend at a different historically black college and she is President of her chapter. She was the one who informed me that I should keep my interest confidential and for my not to approach members that I am friends with because she said it is looked down apon. As for me not having my paper work together, the chapter at my school did not follow protocal for posting the rush dates early. They posted it on a Tuesday and Rush was four days later on that Friday so that is why I was confused about the paper work and process. This forum is supposed to be helpful but I HAVE FOUND THAT it disccourages instead of informing.....thanks for nothing. I gues I dont want to join if your own greek people cant even follow their RUles that are posted on the organizations web site.

1. So why are you making your interest public on a message board?
2. Waaaaah.
3. What organizations' website? Cite your source, please.

She's speaking on NPHC. Personally, I didn't wait for a poster to tell me to be prepared. I had already researched eligibilty requirements on the sorority's national site, and knew what I would need prior to the poster's announcement. If she wants to babied and spoon-fed, she's in the wrong place. Members of GC are not at fault because she did not prepare herself.
ETA: I just went back and saw her 1st post. If she knew 2 weeks ahead of time, why was she not prepared? She says that she went to the site, and saw what she needed. Why not begin preparing those documents instead of waiting for someone to tell you when to do it?
I'm with OTW: Waaaaah

LOL, I was aware of her NPHC interest.
You know, sometimes I wish NPC recruitment could be a little more like NPHC membership intake.

Lol--are you sure because then you could draw even more crazies like this one.
Insert more "why don't you just tell me exactly what to do, or better yet, can you do it for me?" lines here.
Although I must admit that based on the weird rush stories thread, you guys get your share of crazies.

Maybe you should worry about SCHOOL before anything else. When your grammar is this atrocious, sorority membership should be the least of your worries. If your writing is any indication of your academic achievement-chances are that most organizations would be better off not allowing you to pledge.

Another point of interest is that it is: I have gone (not, I have went). Little things like speaking proper grammar can make or break you when going through rush. I find it hard to believe you are this passionate about wanting to go Greek-yet, you wait until 2 weeks prior to rush in order to ask for help. The point that you should speak with people who are in the chapter that you may be friends with is very valid and you should have asked these questions weeks ago.
In this day and age where getting information about recruitment is at your fingertips-there is absolutely NO EXCUSE to be this confused. Call the office of Greek Life or check out the website. If you don't know the website, go to Google and type in STATE UNIVERSITY (obviously YOUR university) Greek Life-that should help you out! Good Luck!

I believe due to her mention of "community involvement proof" that the sorority that tina93 is interested in is an NPHC group.
