Philanthropy Night Craft
Hey Ladies,
My chapter does a spring recruitment & I am in charge of the phil night craft. I was wanting to get some ideas. If you could help, it would be awesome!!
What does your chapter do/did?
What materials do you need?
How much time does it take to make?

Every chapter at our school did theirs for the same philanthropy (Mini Pearl I believe) and we decorated clear plastic bags and put candy in them and then our Panhell took it to the women in the hospitals with breast cancer.
But I am a new member so I got to see a few philanthropy projects. In Tri Sigma's Philanthropy night we decorated picture frames (I think they were made out of popsicle sticks) and sent them to the hospitals and with another organization did some kind of bag and put a stuffed animal in it.
I hope this helps!

Hope its okay to post in your forum...
For our philanthropy craft we make boo-boo bunnies out of wash cloths and then our newest pledge class delivers them to the Duke's Children's Hospital. There is a place for an ice cube and they can be used if a child has a injury that needs some ice. They are fun to make and a good hands on craft. If you google boo boo bunnies you can find directions on how to make them. Some are easier than others.

Cute on the Booboo bunnies... We made cookies this year. We got pre glazed cookies in various shapes and then iced them for RMH. Our Chapter made Scaredy-Lions when we were active. We took paperplates and construction paper and made a "Mask" to help the children fight their fears and become Brave lions. I've also heard of chapters putting together mini scrapbooks (like 5 5x7 pages for 4x6 pictures) for the families. The pages are decorated but blank for the family to add their own pictures.

We made hospital bracelet covers for the Ronald McDonald House in our area. The idea is that a child who has a terminal disease might get tired or upset by constantly seeing the hospital bracelet. So we just have foam covers, which we decorate with shapes and quotes. We have a lot of really creative sisters so they always turn out well.
You only need craft foam in fun colors, some puffy paints, and maybe some foam shapes or stickers. It's not very time consuming. It just takes a few hours to make and a few hours to set, depending on the amount of puffy paint or glue.

We made tissue paper flowers. Many kids at RMDH cannot have real flowers (not completely sterile). First, the tissue paper flowers were SO cheap to make. We have 1100 girls come through recruitment, and supplies for all of them cost approx. $40. Second, as we would finish them, we would have the PNMs put them in vases around the room. Then they would be a beautiful display throughout the day. Third, there was NO mess. You didn't have to worry about glue or making a PNM uncomfortable because they're not artsy. They were soooo easy.
I strongly suggest those because we have done a lot of other crafts over the years, but those were by far my favorite.

bump bump bump!
My company wants to get a group together to visit the children in a local children's hospital. We wanted to do some crafts with them and I thought that it would be fun to do something easy with them... keep the ideas coming?
Or maybe help point me where I can find some more ideas?
