Come on now, you know Occam's Razor, formal logic and common sense have no place on the Internet.

Again:
The assault on a US President shouldn't be condoned by Americans. Ever.
That's all I'm sayin'.
And, that's what I meant by political leaders should be respected. Maybe I would have been clearer if I said that their "office" should be respected.

I don't think we should start throwing shoes at Mahmoud Ahmadinejad either. I REALLY don't agree with him and think he's a lunatic, but if he was giving a speach in the UN Assembly and somebody threw a shoe at him, it would be appalling. But, that's where we're at in this world.

Pretty much matches our reactions as well.
Me too, like I said before, I couldn't believe how quick he was dodging both those shoes. I couldn't move like that and would have been beaned.

And, his reaction was pretty funny too, he just kind of chuckled. It was very strange to watch.

The shoe-thrower was beaten in custody. Link is to BBC news.

Nice democracy we're building over there.

I KNOW! Most forget (or worse, intentionally leave out the fact) that before our malingering and misguided attempt to enforce our heathen Western ideals upon completely unwilling citizens, Iraqis had standardized modern universal health care, advanced women's rights, a general lack of police/military hostility toward large ethnic segments of the population, and an XBOX in every hovel.

It's good to see that there are a lot of people in this thread with some sense. Across the country, stupid people are celebrating this like a Super Bowl win. I expect SNL to have a field day.

Daemonseid is doing the most in this thread. Daemonseid, if you agree with AKA Monet, doesn't that refute much of what you've been trying to say? She said throwing the shoe wasn't right for that man to do regardless of how people feel about the POTUS.

If that is the question, then you missed the point of what I was agreeing with her about.

I am in agreement only with her questioning of why was Bush in Iraq in the first place, putting himself in harm's way.

That is what I am agreement with, I can't understand why people are missing that.

For those that need clarification this is the question I am referring to:

You agreed with the lesser of her points.

A lot of people wonder why he was there. The public statement is that he was there for a surprise final visit. Does this make or break the shoe incident?

Regardless...that is the point I agreed on because it IS a valid question to which I referred to earlier stating that as far as I know, none of our sitting presidents EVER visited an active warzone in which we were engaged in. Does it make or break the shoe incident? SURE!

That easily could have been an assassination in which by this time today if it was the Media would ahve already been working theories about teh purpose of Bush's visit et cetera et cetera and so on.

Like it or not altho it may be a lesser point, it's a very good question and sometimes the small questions are the glaring ones we should be asking.

No. Idiots would've found it funny, anyway.

Some idiots would've laughed if he had been assassinated.

People don't know why he was there and they didn't wait for an explanation before they celebrated the shoe incident. Why he was there and the shoe incident are two separate issues, unless we're a) hypothesizing that the SS was unprepared for this trip and therefore unprepared to fight off shoe wielding reporters and b) saying that the POTUS is to blame for whatever harm they are placed in--even if they are in a room filled with reporters. The latter is a dangerous argument to make.
