That's a good question and I'm glad you asked it.

Alpha has a shield and a coat of arms. The coat of arms is what you see on paraphernalia. It was designed SPECIFICALLY so brothers could wear something on our para, gifts, crafts, etc. The shield is used on official business and publications only. We are forbidden from wearing it or putting it on gifts and crafts.

This is the coat of arms, also known as the fraternal design:



And this is the shield:

Wow. All this time I thought it was your shield that was being displayed! I guess this is yet another area where orgs differ. Thanks for the edumacation
