The likelihood that you have residual gallbladder tissue is next to nil. After years of reading gallbladder US and two years of performing laparoscopic cholecystectomies, the only reason residual gallbladder is left behind is if it is too necrotic to be fully resected. In that case, you surgeon would have informed you that he/she was not able to resect the entire GB. As far as SOD, that could be an option, but another possibility is that the pain patients report before surgery is not actually due to the gallbladder (even when there is clear cut signs of disease) so it doesn't go away after removing the gallbladder. Unfortunately, abdominal pain does NOT always have an easily identifiable cause.
