THAT is horrifying!

But a couple questions/comments...

The mother was 17, and had been up until 4 am the night before with the baby. Though she should have put the baby in a crib instead of left it in the swing, I wouldn't go so far as to say that this act alone means she's negligent. Parents leave their babies alone all the time to go get some needed sleep - the only thing different in this case is that she didn't put it in its crib. I'm sure she didn't expect the puppy to eat the baby! My God, I know a lot about dogs and even I wouldn't expect a small puppy to eat a baby!

Second, how do they even know the baby screamed when the dog attacked it? Weren't they both asleep? I'm assuming if someone was around and heard the baby, they would've stopped the attack.
