Seriously? Since when are either of you so sensitive??? Both of you have said things a lot worse about people, both public figures and people on this board.
JoePa has turned himself into a punchline for many who are outside of Happy Valley.
Happy Valley = HPRL????

Yes-but, you said it yourself...He is a major figure at Penn State. Putting down JoePa to a Penn Stater is like saying something bad about the Pope to a Catholic. Some Penn Staters just shrug it off...Some Catholics just shrug it off but, you have the occasional Frank Sinatra that get pissed off you chose to be so disrespectful (a.k.a. Sinnead O' Connor). I think that's why they got so upset. JoePa is more than a coach-HE IS Penn State. Just look at how much he has given back to the school.
I love JoePa.

BTW...I'm not a Penn Stater, but I have a lot of respect for JoePa. I would have the same respect for any coach.
As for Dani's criticism of our bashing of GC'rs, it's typically Helicopter Moms who make you want to bang your head against the wall, not of an elderly "statesman" who has physical limitations.

To be fair, everyone on the board has their pressure points. Remember how upset all the Pittsburgh people got when people spoke ill of the city of Pittsburgh during the Steelers Super Bowl run?
I admit, I'm not a Penn State fan or a huge JoePa fan. But, he's given a lot back to the school (including with academics), and he essentially put the school on the map. I'd forgive Penn State alums if they're a little protective of the guy.
ETA: Not saying you're not entitled to your opinion of him, or to make a joke at his expense; but, if you do so, you should at least expect some backlash from the Penn State people.

You mean like:
What bowl game will Joe Pa be coaching in this year?
Dunno, Depends.

As I said, not a Penn State fan, doesn't matter to me. Just trying to explain the reaction...

Thank you for the empathy, KSigkid!
I realize JoePa's an easy target, but yes, it does bring out the mama lion in me when people attack him.
Still very sad about the loss...
