Soooo...your group's social and service acitivites aren't legit because you don't have letters? I hope there's more that's being considered in the creation of this new group.

What are you talking about? I never said any such thing...what I DID say is that right now we are very INFORMAL and we would like to make it FORMAL.

...which is exactly why I posed the question. If doing your service and social activities is working now, do you think something will change once you become a sorority? It will still be the same girls doing the same thing -- but you'll have extra policies/procedures that you'll have to adhere to (if you're planning on making this into a campus organization).

If you just want your group to have a title, it might serve you better to join a community organization. Or if you really want to be a member of a GLO, try looking into one that's already established. Setting up a new organization is a lot of work (especially if you're trying to tap into a market that's already being served, which seems to be the case).

I think the questions that's being asked here is why a group of friends who like to hang out and do service together need to be a sorority to be official?

Why can't you just join a service organization (Circle K or something) already on campus? Why is there a need for Greek Letters to be attached to it?

This is a valid question.
