More often than you'd think (and too often for my comfort). NCDC figures for the period 1950 to 2006 show that Pennsylvania reported 697 tornadoes (thanks Wiki).
But a massive outbreak in mid-October? Highly unlikely.
(now that I've said that, I've probably just jinxed my whole state...)
