SNL popularity is quite high right now. Makes sense to me that Franken is doing well

I like looking at the polls, and there seem to be an oogabillion of them. How do large polls (Gallup, Rassmussen, etc) 'find' who they poll?

Haha, thanks - I didn't read this until today, so it just ruins my Monday

Seriously though, I'm getting to the point where I just hope I'm wrong about Obama, since it seems like he's locking things up. I disagree with a number of things in his platform, and I really don't think he's the right person to be President, but hopefully I'll be wrong and he'll do a good job. I'm not conceding things yet, but it doesn't look good.

On another note, I've been getting calls from the Democratic party for a couple of months now, asking me if they'll still have my support for Obama. I've been a Republican for almost 10 years now - why the heck am I getting these calls? I know my town is heavily Democrat (they come very close to trying to steer you to the Democrat polling station, you basically have to make a run for the Republican station), but still...

You, too? I'm amazed at the tone of the calls!

Here's how they usually go:

Caller: "Hello Mr. (Some mispronounced version of my last name), can we still count on your support for the Democratic Party in the upcoming Presidential Election?"

Me: "Actually, you can't, and you haven't counted on my support for a few years. I'm voting McCain."

Caller: "Well sir, I'm sorry to hear that. What has made you change your mind about Senator Obama and the party?"

Me: "Actually, I haven't changed my mind recently. I did not vote for Kerry in the last election. I don't think Obama is the best person for the job, so I'm not voting for him in this election. I am a registered Republican; I think you have the wrong household."

Caller: "Well sir, what issues specifically have caused you to change your vote this election..."

And so on, and so on. Very annoying. Sometimes I stay on the line and continue the conversation because it's borderline amusing.

Wow! Maybe I should have our sales team at work take some pointers from the Obama campaign.

How I wish to get a call from the RNC.... hmmm... what would I say?!? lol.

Maybe you're getting my misdirected phone calls? I no longer have a landline, but back in '06 when I lived in Michigan, I often received pre-recorded calls from Rush Limbaugh urging me to support DeVos. I've been a registered Democtrat since 1997. I would have thought it was just a case of a misdirected number, but I received mail addressed to me from the Republican party too.

^^I am getting the same exact phone calls as KSig. I live in a heavily Republican area and am also a registered Republican. Perhaps they are targeting Republicans hoping to sway them?
