I hope my outrage is obvious, or at least my confusion. As a parent, I thought my child was in college to gain an education, and that GLO's put scholarship at the pinnacle of each member's achievments. Please help me understand this, or if this is peculiar to my child's GLO, let me know how/if it can be countered.

It was an alumni advisor who sent this message last week. No summer jobs or internships either, or fines will be assessed for each missed recruitment workshop roll call. Thanks to all of you!
My GLO has no such official policy that prohibits members from attending Summer II classes.

Our recruitment doesn't start until early September, and Recruitment Training School is usually held the day before Fall Semester begins, so it was never really an issue. We have a small chapter so we didn't need more than a day for RTS.

Our late summer/fall calendar is in place by the last Executive Council meeting in the Spring (April) and then it gets presented to the chapter. The girls know well in advance when to take off work for RTS, recruitment, and other mandatory events.

I'm curious to hear from the gals who start recruitment in mid-August -- 'Bama, Auburn, etc.
