We started workshops in mid August, but this was after Summer School had ended. Thus, no conflict there.

As for jobs/internships... yes, we were required to be at all Rush functions, including the workshops. So, one could have a summer job or internship, but it was understood that we were expected to be back on campus for the first day of Rush workshop.

There may have been a handful of exceptions for specific career related internships, but these were cleared far in advance. In other words, we knew in Sept the Rush schedule for the next Aug. If a member were to pursue an internship that had a schedule conflict, she knew that she would have to get the excused absence before applying. Most internships did not go too far into August, so this was rarely an issue.

There were no exceptions for jobs. None. And honestly I never blamed our Rush team for that edict. If you were to apply for a summer job, you just told your employer when your last day would have to be.
