I guess Samuel is not mainstream enough to get one. I was rather shocked that Denzel got it. I thought Will Smith was going to get it, even though Denzel acted the best. It's a shame that the Academy gave him an award for portraying a THUG, RENEGADE, and CROOKED cop, but he kouldn't get one for MALCOLM X. Maybe that's what Denzel meant by two birds in one night. Black actors probably won't get another OSCAR for 30+ years.
Don Cheatle deserved an award for ROSEWOOD and DEVIL AND A BLUE DRESS.
ED NORTON deserved an award for AMERICAN HISTORY X.
Matt Damon deserved an award for GOOD WILL HUNTING.
DeNiro definitely deserves one for RAGING BULL, HEAT, DEER HUNTER, GOODFELLAS, etc...!

Cuba Gooding should have gotten an award for Men of Honor, that movie was great! I love Samuel L. Jackson too!
It's sad that an actor/actress must go "mainstream" in order to get the recongition they desire!
Hence the reason we have our own awards! That's sad. Because the major of Black America support white film makers, yet we get over looked. Now that will be the next trumiph.... when a Black Film gets an Oscar... sadly enough it'll probably take another 74 years!
